Scoping/Proofreading
The Scoping/Proofreading training program at Prince Institute is designed to meet the growing need for skilled scopists and proofreaders within the community of realtime reporters. Students enrolled in the Judicial Reporting program who have demonstrated sound knowledge of theory principles and good skills in English and technology may choose this Scoping/Proofreading certificate program as an alternative to completing the Judicial Reporting program.
At Prince Institute, you’ll learn:
• Note reading
• Keyboarding
• Transcript formatting using a CAT system
• Legal principles and terminology
• Professionalism
This program enables those students to acquire additional skills which allow them to be employed in the realtime reporting profession in an auxiliary capacity. The skills and knowledge we’ll help you build here can prepare you to assist in producing a verbatim record of proceedings.
Realtime reporters depend on a scopist’s and/or proofreader’s technical knowledge, as well as his/her English, note reading, proofreading and formatting skills to produce a transcript. Those who create these transcripts use sophisticated computer technology, application programs, and text transmittal application systems. All of these skills are invaluable to realtime reporters.
