Prince Institute is a court reporting school located in Montgomery, the capital city of Alabama. Students are encouraged to visit the state legislature, and field trips are taken to the courts periodically. The local, state and federal court systems touch our lives in so many profound ways, that many times it’s easy to overlook. Alabama’s legal history is filled with triumphs and tragedies that every court reporting student can learn from and then apply that knowledge to their everyday duties. One of the great things about being a court reporter is that you get to witness history as it happens. Sometimes lower court proceedings have immense impact on the rest of the nation’s courts. When this happens, court reporters are at the front line of social and cultural change as they document history for the official record.
