Prince Institute was established in 1976 by Sara Prince, a teacher and former realtime reporter for the United States Air Force. Prince Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), approved by the Veterans Administration, licensed by the Alabama Department of Education, and certified by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA). In 1995 Prince Institute became a degree-granting institution.
Patricia Hill, an instructor for many years at Prince Institute, became owner and president in January, 2000 and currently serves as director since it's acquisition by Stenograph in 2005.
Currently, Prince Institute offers an associate degree in realtime reporting with a concentration in judicial reporting.
